NPP Krško Station Blackout Analysis after Safety Upgrade Using MELCOR Code

The analysis of a Station blackout (SBO) accident in the NPP Krško including thermalhydraulic behaviour primary system and containment, as well simulation core degradation process, release molten materials production hydrogen other incondensable gases will be presented paper. calculation model includes latest plant safety upgrade with addition Passive Autocatalytic Recombiners (PAR) Containment Filter Venting (PCFV) system. code used is MELCOR, version 1.8.6. MELCOR an integral severe which means that it can simulate both reactor system, core, containment. being developed at Sandia National Laboratories for U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. conducted two steps. First, steady state performed order to confirm applicability obtain correct initial conditions analysis. second step SBO leakage coolant through damaged pump seals. Without any active systems, pressure vessel fail after few hours. mass energy releases from cause containment pressurization rise temperature. newly added PAR PCFV, prevent damage building by keeping below design limits. results capability systems effectively control conditions. Results are given respect MAAP 4.0.7 same scenario. codes most popular and, therefore, reasonable compare their results.
